DAY 2: Yoga Session and Sightseeing In Thimphu

Thimphu highlight tour with visit to major attractions of the area

In this land of peace and serenity, you will kick start your day by participating on about an hour Yoga Session at the hotel which begins at 7:00 am. The session is led by experienced and trained yoga professional with various yoga postures. After the Yoga you will take breakfast before beginning our guided sightseeing of attractions in Thimphu.

After checking out of the hotel, you'll embark on a scenic drive to visit a colossal golden Buddha statue, perched atop a gilded meditation hall called Buddha Dordenma. There's a fascinating optical illusion at play here, as visitors seem to be gazing at a single statue, but in reality, they're witnessing a whopping 125,000 Buddhas! These mini Buddhas, ranging in height from 8 to 12 inches, are enshrined within the enlightened bronze chest of the Buddha Dordenma statue. The monument was erected in 2015 to commemorate the 60th birthday of Jigme Singye Wangchuck, Bhutan's fourth king.

Our next destination for the day is the Motithang Takin Preserve, where you can catch a glimpse of the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin. After that, we will take a break for lunch before continuing our exploration at the National Memorial Chorten, a beautiful monument built to honour the late king Jigme. Our next stop will be Simtokha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress and monastery renowned for its intricate carvings and colourful murals. Later in the day, we will visit the Thimphu weekend market, which is open from Friday to Sunday and offers a chance to experience the local way of life.

This temple, situated on the round hilltop of Lobesa Valley, was built back in 1499 by the 14th Drukpa, Ngawang Chogyal, to honour the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley. In the evening, at around 4:30 pm, your designated Yoga instructor will teach you various yoga techniques, postures, and practices for approximately an hour, taking your mind and soul to the next level. DAY 6: Hike To Tiger's Nest Monastery (3,190 metres)

A short hike to antique Buddhist Monastery in Bhutan

Today, you'll be visiting Bhutan's most iconic attraction, the Tiger's Nest Monastery. To get there, you'll need to drive to its base and then take a short hike. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche, an 8th-century Indian Buddhist master, was carried up the mountain on the back of a disciple who had transformed herself into a tigress. Once they arrived, Guru Rinpoche spent three years, three months, three days, and three hours meditating in the cave. After he finished, it became a holy place known as Paro Taktsang or Tiger's Nest Monastery. Located at the clifftop, the monastery offers a wide-angle view of the surrounding areas. As you hike higher, the trail gets steeper and zig-zags between the trees to make the slope easier to climb. You'll get to witness legendary caves where Guru Rimpoche is said to have landed to meditate after flying on a tiger's back. Explore the thangka paintings, statues of Lord Buddha, and other deities before heading back down the trail. Once back at your hotel, join the last yoga session of this trip and relax until the next morning.
