EBC Trek Overview

Everest Base Camp trek from April 2023 is among all other Himalayan trekking trips came under the Nepal government’s policy of no entry for foreign independent trekkers inside national parks. This country houses eight of the world's tallest mountains and equally praised for its remote trekking trails inside the protected national parks. Trek to Everest Base Camp would rather be considered as the heavenly experience of satisfaction than difficult trek for any adventure lovers. In the scenario of growing craze for Everest trek experience, it is now compulsory for travelers to hire a government-licensed guide or join a group organized by trekking companies for any adventure treks in remote and protected regions.

Everest Base Camp Trek costs not only money to make it a success story of travelers but also carefully calculated trekking window in the recommended season with best team in hands. The cost for the Everest trek depends on what you are about to get during the trip which is pre-agreed during the time of booking. With premium access to the satellite weather forecast reports, more than 20 years of experience and our own weather station in the mountain, we will not let your trip spoil. This Everest base camp classic trek will follow the classic trail used from initial time to now. This trip follows the trail itinerary as: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding – Namche Bazaar – Namche Bazaar – Tengboche – Dingboche – Dingboche – Labuche – Gorakshep(EBC+Kalapatthar) – Phiriche –Namche – Lukla – Kathmandu.  Trek to Everest base camp in any style, which could be solo or private group or in a vibrant group formed with likeminded travelers from any country in the world are equally rewarding. Team leading your trip makes huge difference in what you would experience during the trek. There are many cases where travelers have to return back without completing the trail or came back dissatisfied with what they did above in the mountain. Around 2 weeks long trek to Everest base camp if not planned properly, team leaders and staffs are non-proficient and above all if the organizer are reckless; turns out to be the worst travel experience ever. Everest trekking trail is rated difficult but with effective planning and organizer’s good experience on hands can ease every step you would take during the trip.

Satisfaction of doing Himalayan treks multiplies if the company you are traveling with is responsible, ethical and nature loving. Here at Himalayan Adventure Therapy each trip you do will contribute towards sustainable forest projects, nature conservation projects, health and education of children of our field staffs. You will be so proud for not doing the trip with any other company but this one. Each day in the mountain with our well trained team will make you feel superior over the other traveling together in the same trail.

Day 2: Fly to Lukla(2,700 to 2,860 meters) and Trek to Phakding(2,600 to 2,650 meters)

Thrilling Lukla flight, Gateway to the Mighty Mount Everest

Approx. 30 minutes one way flight to Lukla measuring 135 km areal distance Kathmandu-Lukla is world’s renowned STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) flight you will experience. This flight gets tricky in most cases because of mountain weather conditions and the poor air traffic management of the aviation authorities in the domestic terminal in Kathmandu airport. With proper planning and calculations; we are always flying our travelers in a safe weather window of the day while taking whatever action is required to facilitate the entire procedure. In the high tourist season, the aviation authority diverts the Lukla flight base to Manthali airport instead of the domestic terminal in Kathmandu. This is an addition of another 140 Km (3.5 to 4 hours) drive from Kathmandu just to catch the daring and the wildest flight of the world, that flight to Lukla.

After landing in Lukla, you will take a tea or snacks break, check your gear for the last time and proceed on our trek to Everest Base Camp. We will end today’s walk at Phakding, a small Sherpa settlement on the side of fast flowing Dudhkoshi River. Initially the walking trail follows an easy downhill the almost straight trail afterwards. Though no big mountain can be seen today, walking trail will continue alongside the Dushkoshi River with green forests on both sides. Arrangement for the lunch stop is made in the middle of the trail. We will reach Phakding after a walk of approximately 3-4 hours. Once you reach the hotel in Phakding, you will explore the area if you like to and rest for that night.

Day 3: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar(3,380 to 3,480 meters)

Easy to walk trail with greenery

The walk from Phakding to Namche Bazaar starts at an elevation of 2650 meters and reaching a height of 3470 meters. The trail is relatively easy up to the Hillary Bridge of Khumjung, where one can stop to take beautiful picture with views of the surrounding mountains. Crossing the bridge itself is also an iconic experience of this trail. After crossing the iconic bridge the trail becomes steeper and demands a bit more effort to climb up to Namche Bazaar. The ascent is worth it, as it offers stunning views of the greenery and mountain river that run alongside it.

Throughout today’s walk, one can enjoy the natural beauty of the region, with pine and rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, and towering peaks that surround the trail. Along the way, one may also encounter local Sherpa people and their traditional villages, as well as plenty of lodges and teahouses where they can rest and refuel for the journey ahead. We will rest in Namche and if any one likes, they can explore the evening market with its unique ambience.

Ama Dablam and other ranges during the trek of this day.

After crossing the river, we'll embark on a gorgeous uphill climb to Tengboche. The path is lined with lush mountain forests, offering a breath of fresh air and a chance to reconnect with nature. Day 8: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche(4,920 to 4,940 meters)

Walk through rocky trail to reach rest point on the side of Khumbu Glacier

Today's walking journey will take us on one of the world's highest-elevation trails, ranging from 4,380 meters to 4,920 meters. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 8.2 kilometers and may take around 5-6 hours to complete or more.

As we leave Dingboche village and venture towards Labuche, we'll be rewarded with stunning views along the way. To our southwest side lies three peaks below seven thousand meters while Taboche and Cholatse peaks can also be seen just about four to five km away from the trail in that same direction.

To our northwest side lie Nirekha Peak, Labuche East Peak as well as Mt Pumori at an impressive height of over seven thousand meters all lined up beautifully before us - stretching leftwards then rightwards respectively.

After passing through Dhugla Village which doubles as a campsite for trekkers en route; there are steep uphill climbs leading up Khumbu Glacier where you'll see breathtaking sights like Mount Pumori again alongside other giants including Khumbutse Peak (northwest), Mt Nuptse & its siblings who stand tall between heights ranging between ~7732meters –7815meters proudly supported by distant Lhotse on a far-right corner within north-west direction visible throughout many parts ahead until reaching destination point i.e., Labuche!

It’s recommended that trekkers prepare adequately for high-altitude hiking such as acclimatizing properly beforehand or carrying oxygen tanks if necessary! With these precautions taken into account though today onwards they’re most likely going feel the Himalayas in a true sense than ever before thanks largely due to the sheer majesty of surroundings constantly reminding them why Nepal remains one sought-after trekking destination worldwide…

Day 9: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep(5,160 to 5,170 meters) with Everest Base Camp(5,280 to 5,370 meters) trail extended after lunch and back to Gorakshep for overnight stay

Short in breath but the inspiration of Everest Base Camp will push you up

Today's walk is the most highly anticipated day of our trip. We will traverse the side of Khumbu Glacier to reach Gorakshep from Labuche, which should take us only 2-3 hours on a non-inclined rocky trail. However, due to high altitude, every step we take requires extra effort and attention.

Along the way, we'll be greeted by majestic views of Mt. Pumori (7,138 meters) in the northern direction and all Mt. Nuptse range in the northeast direction. We need to complete all activities before mid-day when dry and icy winds start blowing at high speed as it could cause health problems for travelers.

Just before reaching Gorakshep lies Changri Shar Glacier junction with Khumbu Glacier - another wonder of this world where nothing seems stable because everything below us moves slowly but continuously; however one cannot feel that movement instantly! This adventure is truly rewarded by Himalayan views in Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar summit.

Once we arrive at Gorakshep after lunchtime ,we can continue our trek towards Everest Base Camp – 1-1½ hour walk each way for a real experience like no other! It’s here where expeditions begin their journey of Highest Mountain. We will interact with climbers about their plans & preparations wherever possible!

We're surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges such as: Mt.Pumori, Mt Lingtren(6,714m), Khumbutse Peak(6,636m), Changtse Peak(7,543m) on north-western side while just a small portion of Mount Everest appears far away along its northeastern edge visible from base camp itself. We hike Kalapatthar Summit next morning if weather permits giving beautiful view surrounding mountains including highest peak ever seen anywhere else -Mt.Everest. With memories full hearts & great experiences gained during today's trekking back down into Gorekshep overnight stay.

Awe inspiring view of Himalayas from Kalapatthar

Prepare to witness the world's longest stretch of Himalayan Range in the Khumbu region by embarking on an unforgettable trek. To ensure optimal viewing, we will begin our ascent at least three hours before sunrise. After a moderate uphill climb lasting two to three hours, we'll arrive at our view point where one of nature's most incredible wonders awaits us: The world's best sunrise and tallest mountains.

As soon as the sun peeks over those shiny mountain peaks during golden hour, you'll be awestruck by what lies before your eyes- it truly is an indescribably breathtaking experience that leaves many speechless with tears of joy after their tough journey to reach this heavenly summit.

From Kalaptthar viewpoint, you can see Mt.Pumori stretching towards north along with Mt.Lingtren and Khumbutse Peak aligning themselves beside magnificent Mount Everest which stands tall in all its glory! Towards west lie Nuptse and gigantic face of Mount Everest while Ama Dablam,Pokalde peak,Thamserku Mountain ,Cholatse Mountain,Lobuche East & West are visible from south-west side alongside other smaller peaks not mentioned here.

After taking enough time soaking up these jaw-dropping views atop Kalapatthar View Point (5545m),we will descend back down towards Gorakshep for breakfast followed by continuing onwards until reaching Phiriche. Phiriche is the village in next side of Dingboche village where we stayed during our ascend. We will also see Cho La Lake on our way back to Phiriche.

Touch the greenery after Tengboche and continue

We will begin our downhill journey from Phiriche after breakfast, with the goal of reaching Namche Bazaar within 5-6 hours. Namche Bazaar is a significant town located in the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal that serves as a popular stopover point for trekkers heading towards or back from Mount Everest Base Camp.

Along the way, we will enjoy stunning mountainous vibes such as barren lands and rocky trails while feeling refreshed by chilled air. We'll break for lunch mid-way through our trekking journey before continuing to Pangboche village.

After crossing a metal suspension bridge over Imja Khola, we'll reach Debuche where there's an abrupt change in ambiance - it gets greener and warmer! Gradually you'll start experiencing comfort and strength in your body during this part of your trip.

After 6-7 hours of trekking, we finally arrive at Lukla where we can rest and restore ourselves before taking our flight out of Khumbu region. This marks the end of one's most memorable travel experience in Nepal.

Upon returning back to Kathmandu there will be an overnight stay with farewell dinner hosted by company executives so that travellers can share their experiences openly while providing feedback for future improvements needed during trips organized by them.
